Locally owned and operated! - Only in Royal Oak...
We are not a school of rock, but The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music®. Our personal names are not on the outside of the building, because our school is not about us and our egos. We are all about our Detroit musical community as a whole. We are locally owned and operated by a family of life-long professional Detroit musicians who are dedicated to pursuing music at the highest levels and are committed to helping others do the same. There's no slick business plans and investment groups. There's no franchise rights or out-of-state managers. We are Detroiters helping Detroiters. Come join us. -
No cookie cutters allowed!
We believe that music is an individual pursuit and can not be approached in a cookie cutter fashion. What works for some may not work for others, and we believe that all that matters is getting to the music. Many teachers only show their students what they like and enjoy, creating a cookie cutter of themselves. We however have a flexible curriculum that allows for individuals to pursue their own passions. -
Summer Rocks! 2013 - Summer Camp and tour to Chicago!
The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is proud to present a summer adventure that will rock! Spend this summer with some of the best professionals in Metro Detroit learning topics about music such as songwriting, recording, rock and pop history, and everything in between. Spend time each day on your main instrument playing and jamming in the recording studio with your very own producer, learning the fundamentals of your instrument with private mentors, and in sectionals with other talented students. AND... At the end of the summer go on tour! This year to Chicago!! -
Professional musicians on staff!
Our staff is comprised of some of the most professional musicians you can find in Metro Detroit or beyond. Our horn teachers, The Motor City Horns for example, have worked with a variety of artists, bands, and orchestras including: Justin Timberlake, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. As a group, they have joined forces with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band (2006 – 2007 Face The Promise Tour and 2011 Tour), as well as Clarence Clemons and the Temple of Soul. They put the same passion and conviction into helping others with music as they do with their international touring dates. -
Stop Practicing... Start Performing®
We believe that people learn by doing. In our short existence we have had students play on every major tv network, at every major venue, at many local festivals and charity events, on tour to other states, and on many recordings; all without ever charging our parents and families a dime to see us. While learning how to play our instrument is done in solitude at home, the motivation and inspiration to keep going only happens when you "Stop Practicing..." and "Start Performing!" -
Access to Superstars®
Through our Access to Superstars® programs, our goal is to take ordinary people and make their lives extraordinary by giving them access to the people at the top. In the process, people are motivated, excited, and learn that through attention to detail, persistence, and a community spirit anything is possible. -
