Summer Rocks! – Summer Camp and Tour
The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is proud to present a summer adventure that will rock! Spend this summer with some of the best professionals in Metro Detroit learning topics about music such as songwriting, recording, rock and pop history, and everything in between. Spend time each day on your main instrument playing and jamming in the recording studio with your very own producer, learning the fundamentals of your instrument with private mentors, and in sectionals with other talented students. AND... At the end of the summer go on tour! This year to New York City!!
The DSRP “On Record – Volume 1″
The students of the DSRP have come a long way and we didn’t want to let any more time go by without documenting their progress. As part of our desire to continually give our students unprecedented experience in their music pursuits, The DSRP has made a record! Each DSRP band contributed one song to this “cover tune” record. There was no cost to participate and all recording time and production costs were covered by The DSRP. Students, families, and community members wishing to receive a copy can contact the office. Although there is no charge, a donation to the equipment fund is encouraged.
Locally owned and operated! – Only in Royal Oak…
We are not a school of rock, but The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music®. Our personal names are not on the outside of the building, because our school is not about us and our egos. We are all about our Detroit musical community as a whole. We are locally owned and operated by life-long professional Detroit musicians who are dedicated to pursuing music at the highest levels and are committed to helping others do the same. There's no slick business plans and investment groups. There's no franchise rights or out-of-state managers. We are Detroiters helping Detroiters. Come join us.
Access to Superstars®
Through our Access to Superstars® programs,  our goal is to take ordinary people and make their lives extraordinary by giving them access to the people at the top. In the process, people are motivated, excited, and learn that through attention to detail, persistence, and a community spirit anything is possible.
Professional musicians on staff!
Our staff is comprised of some of the most professional musicians you can find in Metro Detroit or beyond. Our horn teachers, The Motor City Horns for example, have worked with a variety of artists, bands, and orchestras including: Justin Timberlake, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. As a group, they have joined forces with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band (2006 – 2007 Face The Promise Tour and 2011 Tour), as well as Clarence Clemons and the Temple of Soul. They put the same passion and conviction into helping others with music as they do with their international touring dates.
Stop Practicing… Start Performing®
We believe that people learn by doing. In our short existence we have had students play on every major tv network, at every major venue, at many local festivals and charity events, on tour to other states, and on many recordings; all without ever charging our parents and families a dime to see us. While learning how to play our instrument is done in solitude at home, the motivation and inspiration to keep going only happens when you "Stop Practicing..." and "Start Performing!"

At The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music® we teach people how to excel in music; whether you’re an experienced professional, a beginner, you’ve never played in a band before, or you’re completely scared to play in front of people.

So what does that mean?

At The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music®, since the purpose is to play music, it means no un-motivating lessons, no sales pitches for new equipment, and no boring songs that aren’t relevant to your life. We’re here to provide the most exciting and motivating musical experiences with some of the region’s most successful producers and mentors.

That’s right. We’re here to ROCK, not sit around every week talking about it.

Now please understand; this isn’t some program where you show up when you want to, cancel within 24 hours notice and; when you do show up, come in having put very little effort into learning the material. This is an opportunity to play with other like-minded people, create an awesome production and sell it to the world together, with all of the excitement and enthusiasm you can muster! It’s a team effort and we at The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music require a high level of excellence and commitment from all who are involved. We’re looking for folks who are tired of practicing for no reason, and want to start enjoying the benefits of working hard towards their dreams.

Click on Admissions and send us your info today. Then someone will contact you with more information about scheduling your audition and, once accepted, set you up with a weekly mentorship and production rehearsal.
